Ready to learn and grow as both a human and an artist? You're in the right place. We’re thrilled to offer this mentorship opportunity to our company-level dancers again this year! If you’re interested in choreographing a piece for the 2026 Student Choreography Show, this application is your first step. It helps us get to know you, your ideas, and how we can best support you through the process.
We require choreographers to attend at least 8 of the 11 scheduled rehearsals, and none of the absences can be in January or February.
You'll need to be available for these important dates:
Choreographer Workshops (select one)
Weekly Rehearsals: Select Saturdays between 1:00–4:00 PM (exact 2-hour block TBA)
Dress Rehearsal: February 6, 2026 | 5:30–8:00 PM
Show Day: February 7, 2026 | Showtime at 6:00 PM
Your choreographer application is due no later than August 22, 2025
This opportunity is open to current Senior Prep, Apprentice and Senior Company dancers at Thrive. Whether it’s your first time choreographing or you’ve participated before, we welcome all experience levels!
Nope! You can choose to only choreograph, or you can both choreograph and perform in your own piece. It’s totally up to you.
Yes! You may apply as a duo, but both dancers must submit an application and share responsibilities equally. Keep in mind: it takes clear communication and teamwork to choreograph with a partner and can sometimes be more challenging than working on your own.
Choreographers must attend at least 8 of the 11 scheduled rehearsals, and none of the absences can fall in January or February, as those are our final polishing weeks.
If you’re unable to attend the July main workshop, you can attend the alternate workshop on August 23rd. However, the July session is highly recommended—it offers more in-depth support and a chance to collaborate early on with peers and mentors.
The fee includes: 6 hours of choreographer training and mentorship, 25+ hours of rehearsal time, 1:1 feedback and guidance from Thrive faculty, costumes for your piece, tech support for lighting and show production.
Note: If you're both choreographing and dancing, you only pay this one fee.
All dancers will audition on September 13, and you’ll have a say in casting your group with guidance from Thrive staff to ensure balanced and successful groupings
Absolutely. You’ll have mentors from the Thrive team and guest artists to support you with everything from movement ideas to leadership strategies. This is a learning experience—we’re here for you and we're bringing in even more support this year!
Most pieces range from 4–10 dancers, but this can vary depending on your vision and dancer availability. We’ll talk about group size in your feedback sessions and make sure it’s manageable.
Nope! We’ll teach you basic editing tools or help you edit your track during the workshop sessions. We’ve got you covered.
The final show is a fully produced evening performance on February 7, 2026, with lights, sound, and a supportive audience cheering you on. It’s a celebration of all your hard work!
